But why sit cooking in the sun with a magnifying glass?

I get asked some variation of this just about every show I do. Some people wonder why I don't use a regular nib tipped wood burner, others wonder why I don't buy a laser, but truthfully it wouldn't be as interesting to me then. I've always been the type to explore different and unusual hobbies and after having done this for two years now I couldn't imagine doing anything as boring as loading a piece of wood and pressing go on a laser.

Also there is so much to be gained from working with nature. Some days the sun burns hot and fast other days I struggle with haze or clouds. I even get to enjoy watching the sun and the clouds through my safety glasses during those times that the sun is playing peek-a-boo with the clouds.

I suppose if I had to do this to make a living it would be different but this is something I do because I enjoy it and want to share a unique art form with others.
